Home Building & Residential Construction Questions & Answers

Since the inception of B4UBUILD.COM in 1997, we have been providing visitors with answers to questions about the homebuilding process, custom home design, home improvement and other aspects of residential construction. As time permits, some of the most frequently asked questions and answers will be included in this section of our site. You are also welcome to look in our Lost & Found section for additional sources of information.

Please keep in mind that every construction project has unique circumstances that make it almost impossible to provide one definitive answer - particularly when we have never met you, or been to your jobsite, or seen your construction documents. Accordingly, the answers that we provide represent our opinions of possible solutions based upon information, which is provided to us by our visitors. Please use these question and answer pages as they are intended; to provide various options and different viewpoints from which to further explore your own situation and develop your own solutions to your individual questions. For more specific answers, you should consult with a local attorney, structural engineer, architect, designer, building inspector, and/or homebuilding consultant who is familiar with the specific details of your particular project.

Should you not be able to find the specific information for which you are looking, after searching the B4UBUILD.COM Web site, you are always welcome to contact us. Please understand that we receive a large number of requests and we simply cannot respond to every message. However, we will do our best to provide you with an answer; or at least point you in the right direction so that you can find it on your own — before you build.
