Rockler Woodworking and Hardware - In 1954, Nordy Rockler started a mail order woodworking supply company in Minneapolis, known as Minnesota Woodworkers Supply Company. Their first retail store was opened in Minneapolis in 1978 and today, they have a total of 21 stores across the country. They offer cabinet knobs, pulls and handles, kitchen cabinet accessories, drawer slides, hinges, fasteners, levelers, castors, glides, shelving, specialty hardware, tools, workbenches, wood shop supplies, wood moldings and project plans.
Amerock - Manufacturers of cabinet knobs, door & drawer pulls, surface mount & mortise hinges, drawer slides, catches and related hardware. As of this writing, their Web site is undergoing a major renovation.

Baldwin Hardware - Manufacturers of "solid brass decorative accessories, lighting, architectural hardware and bath products." Surprisingly, at the time of this writing, they do not have their own Web site. However, you can get more information through their parent company, Masco Corporation.

Kwikset Corporation - Founded in 1946 by Adolf Schoepe and Karl Rhinehart, the company was named after their new tubular lock, called "Kwikset", which was quick and easy to install. According to their Web site, they became the number one manufacturer of residential locksets in 1957 and they continue to hold that title today. Now owned by Black & Decker, they have expanded their product line to include higher-quality locks, sold under The Society Brass CollectionTM and TITANTM brand names, which offer more security and remote keyless entry deadbolts and handlesets.

W. H. Maze - When a lumber company in Peru, Illinois needed an alternative to the bright steel cut nails that were causing their cedar shingle roofs to fail, they bought a used nail machine and started making longer lasting nails from pure zinc strips. Today, the Maze Group, which consists of Maze Nails, Tremont Nail and Independent Nail, offers double hot-dipped zinc-coated nails for all types of exterior applications, stainless steel nails and screws, collated nails for pneumatic tools, masonry nails, flooring nails, post framing nails, log home spikes, pressure treated lumber nails, and other specialty nails.

Schlage - Walter Schlage was a German born inventor and adventurer who's first invention, in 1909, was a door lock that turned lights on and off. Several years later, he developed and mass produced a door knob with a push-button locking device in the center. Today, Schlage is part of the Ingersoll-Rand Door Hardware Group. Simpson Strong-Tie Company Inc. - Designers, engineers and manufacturers of joist hangers, post anchors, hurricane straps, truss plates, brick ties, connectors for use with light gauge steel construction and composite wood products, as well as, other structural metal straps, connectors and anchoring systems. Their site contains pictures of almost all of their products and they offer a free CD-ROM that features all of their catalogs.
USP Lumber Connectors - In about 1950, TECO of Chevy Chase, MD, became the first company to manufacture and market joist hangers and other lumber connectors. In 1954, United Steel Products (USP) began selling lumber connectors and established the "Kant-Sag" tradename. Over the years, and after several other companies were founded, consolidated, and purchased, Kant-Sag was dropped and TECO was liquidated. However, for many of us older builders, TECO is still synonymous with joist hangers. The current USP product line "includes a full range of connectors for high wind resistance, earthquake resistance, engineered lumber, plated truss, glulam and standard lumber."
Weiser Lock, Inc. - Another Masco company, Weiser products include the Powerbolt 3000® Home Access System, which can link door locks, garage door openers and an interior lighting system to one remote control. They also offer an electronic keyless entry system, which uses a 4 to 8 digit code to open doors.
