Established in 1997, gs design, inc. works with a select group of small business owners and non-profit groups to develop practical, web-based marketing plans, and user friendly web sites, which accurately reflect the needs and goals of the organizations that they represent. [ B4UBUILD.COM ] - the first place to look... before you build. This residential construction site allows visitors to preview more than 11,150 house and project plans, learn about the homebuilding process, find information about residential architecture and design, research construction materials, tools, software, books and building supplies, find sample custom home building contracts and schedules, discover new home repair and home improvement products, and browse through hundreds of pictures of houses and construction details.

B4UBUILD.COM was featured in the December 1, 2003 edition of Business Week magazine in an article titled So You Want to Be Your Own Contractor by Kate Murphy as a Web site that has "[e]verything you ever wanted to know about building or remodeling a house." This site was cited as one of "[s]everal excellent Web sites [that] offer valuable information for the home builder or renovator..." in the book " From Sand Castles to Dream Houses" by Sheri Koones (a very good book by the way). Fine Homebuilding Magazine recommended B4UBUILD.COM to readers of their October/November 1998 issue. Builder Magazine selected it as one of their "Builder's Top 10 Industry Web Sites" and it is featured in the book " 300 Incredible Things for Home Improvement on the Internet." Called "the most informative" on the subject by Florida Today Newspaper, B4UBUILD.COM was presented with a 2002-2003 "Golden Web Award" by the International Association of Web Masters and Designers, a Top 100 Web Sites for 1998 award by Surfers Choice, a Best of the Planet People's Choice award, a Top Site award from Eye On The Web and the Real Estate Library's Pure Gold award. LôôkSmart called it a "Fantastic site", and it was rated "Excellent" by the International Real Estate Digest.

[ Spears / Votta & Associates ] - this mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consulting engineering firm has been recognized with many industry awards, including; the Baltimore Heritage Historic Preservation Award for their work on the restoration of the Stables Building at Clipper Mill; a first place ASHRAE's National Technology Award for their work on the historic Fells Point Inn; and an Award of Merit, International Illumination Design Award from the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. They also designed the central heating and cooling plant for the Washington D.C. Convention Center (the largest building in the District of Columbia, covering six city blocks) and the HVAC systems for the Baltimore Inner Harbor locations of the ESPN Zone, Hard Rock Cafe and Barnes & Noble. They even recreated the blue lighting effect atop the historic Emerson Bromo-Seltzer tower.

[ Rebuilding Together Baltimore ] - originally published in 1999, when they were known as Christmas in April * Baltimore, this non-profit, non-sectarian, volunteer-based organization works in partnership with local corporations, religious and educational groups, businesses, community associations, foundations, and private citizens to repair the homes of low-income homeowners; especially the elderly, disabled, and families with children, in Baltimore City and Baltimore County, Maryland.

[ Skarda and Associates ] - structural engineers, structural engineering and building design firm located in Baltimore, Maryland, which specializes in commercial, industrial and residential structural design and consulting services.

[ the lecture bureau ] - this company, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, will help you find a famous person to speak at your next event. Their speaker list includes Alec Baldwin, Oliver Stone, Billie Jean King, John Irving, Seymour Hersh, Spike Lee, Helen Thomas and many more notable personalities.

[ Paul J. Travers ] - the author of "Eyewitness to Infamy: An Oral History of Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941," "The Patapsco: Baltimore's River of History," and "The Flight of the Shadow Drummer." Paul recently finished his fourth book, which is scheduled to be published in the fall of 2007 -- look for a complete redesign of his Web site at that time.

[ McManus Insurance & Financial, LLC ] - Independent insurance agency and investment agent, located in Timonium, Maryland offering auto insurance, life insurance, health insurance, business and farm insurance, umbrella policies, and investments.

[ Schuster Concrete ] - a ready-mixed concrete supplier with a fleet of over 100 concrete trucks and modern concrete batch plants located in Owings Mills, Frederick, Hagerstown, Jessup, and Baltimore Maryland.

[ DGS Construction, Inc. ] - also known as Schuster Construction, this company specializes in commercial, residential, and industrial concrete construction and placement. Their experience includes tilt-wall construction, tower crane services, large scale laser screed concrete pours, concrete pumping services, and other state of the art concrete placement techniques.

[ Carroll County Veterinary Clinic ] - one of our most recent projects, which is in the very early stages of development.

[ Carroll Water Systems ] - this company installs and services new and replacement well pumps, water softeners, whole house water treatment systems, water purifiers, reverse osmosis filters, radon removal systems, ultra violet disinfectant systems and constant water pressure systems. They have asked us to update their site, which was originally produced by another design firm. During the redesign process we are improving the look and feel of the site, simplifying the menu structure, and rewriting most of the content in order to more accurately reflect their business and target their market audience.

[ Naturally Wood ] - Gary Markow is a talented artist who creates unique, hand crafted wooden Menorahs, Mezuzahs, Challah Boards, and Oil Lamps using beautiful exotic woods. This is another project early in the development process.

[ Kelly's Stationery ] - an office products and business supply company located in Westminster, Maryland. Their site was originally created about 7 years ago by another Web design firm. They have asked us to take over normal maintenance operations, as well as, to work on a complete redesign of their Web site.

[ Kelly's Office Movers ] - a new business, founded by the folks at Kelly's Stationery, which specializes in relocating business offices. This site is in the early stages of design.

[ Eye Specialists of Maryland ] - Eye Specialists of Maryland is a multi-specialty group of board-certified ophthalmologists and optometrists located in the Hunt Valley area of Baltimore County, MD. They diagnose and treat various diseases of the eye, specializing in surgical procedures related to diabetic retinopathy, macular holes & pucker, retinal detachments and macular degeneration. The site is early in the development process.

[ Rugbeaters.com ] - pictures and information about antique and collectable rug beaters, carpet beaters and pillow fluffers. The site is being redeveloped.

[ Hereford High School Post Prom Party ] - information about the HHS Post Prom Party held every year after the prom in an effort to provide high school students with a safe atmosphere in which to have fun. Web development and hosting is donated by gs design, inc.

[ Prettyboy Elementary School ] - this Web site, founded in the fall of 1996, was featured at the 1998 annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association in San Diego, California. The following year, it was identified as being one of the "very few schools" to "take advantage of the Web's potential" in an "Information Technology in Childhood Education" research paper, which was written by Karen S. Ivers of the California State University, Fullerton and Ann E. Barron, of the University of South Florida.

The original Web site featured scanned images of student artwork, transcribed original literary works, digital photos of special school events, and hand coded Web pages created by the 4th and 5th grade members of the Prettyboy Elementary School Computer Club, as well as, links to recommended resources for elementary school students, parents, and teachers.

Unfortunately, a change in Baltimore County Public School policy, which disallowed the practice of parent volunteers managing school Web sites, has resulted in the disappearance of this award winning, educational resource.
